Reminiscences of a Soldier's Wife: An Autobiography (Shawnee Classic)
Published in Paperback by Southern Illinois Univ Pr (Trd) (December, 1997)
Authors: John A. Logan and John Y. Simon
Average review score:

Interesting reading.
Mrs. Logan, (the wife of General John A. Logan of Illinois, one of the most notable "political generals" of the Civil War), was well placed to observe and report on the events of her time.
Residing in Washington for more than fifty years, she apparently was acquainted with everyone of importance, and has used her considerable powers of observation and description to produce this highly readable, useful and entertaining chronicle of the public affairs and personages of nineteenth-century America.
In conjunction with Mrs, Logan's autobiography the reader may wish to consult "Black Jack", James Pickett Jones' excellent biography of General Logan also published by Southern Illinois University Press.

Fast paced, action packed
This one's like a rollercoaster ride. Started on page one and read through to the end and it left me breathless. One of the best in the series!

Slocum and the Pomo Chief (Jake Logan, 256)
Published in Audio Cassette by Otis Audio Inc (November, 2000)
Authors: Jake Logan, Dick Wilkinson, and Michelle De Long
Average review score:

Different type of western
The western has an appropriate amount of gunplay but the way the Indians were treated was a lot better than in most westerns. I enjoyed seeing the Pomos used which is different than the usual Plains Indians. Don't miss this one. It's a lot of fun.

Slocum and the Texas Rose
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (April, 1998)
Author: Jake Logan
Average review score:

One of the Best
A great entry in a long-running series, with lots of action, good characters, and an unusually twisty plot. Highly recommended to Western fans.

Slocum and the Undertaker (Slocum Series, 255)
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (May, 1900)
Author: Jake Logan
Average review score:

Quirky & Unusual
This book fascinated me. Most westerns are just shoot 'em ups. This one had a strange plot filled with wonderfully quirky characters and the most unusual town in any western.

Don't miss this one! If you like it half as much as I did, you'll love it.

The Snowy Torrents--Avalanche Accidents in the U.S., 1980-86
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Colorado Geological Survey (01 September, 1996)
Authors: Nick Logan and Dale Atkins
Average review score:

Learn from other's mistakes
A compelling collection of avalanche incidents which describe the events leading up to each avalanche, diagrams of the avalanche, and an analysis of the cause and how it could have been avoided. These stories drive home the point that avalanches don't just happen to someone else, they can happen to anyone who puts themselves in bad situations. This book can help you recognize and avoid those bad situations. Highly recommended.

Training Grouse and Woodcock Dogs
Published in Hardcover by Gunnerman Pr (June, 1990)
Author: Logan Bennett
Average review score:

Grass roots methods for training bird dogs
I am the son of Logan J. Bennett and as a young child witnessed this book unfold. I also watched my dad train many dogs, mostly English Setters. He had a wonderful way of communicating with animals which also made him a very astute observer when it came to picking pups. While I cannot recite many of the lessons in his book, I will say that he taught me much about dog handling and training. Dad's dogs were always very disciplined. No bird dog ever was a house dog, and they seemed to always hunt for him until they dropped. His dogs also enjoyed the benefit of a great shot and thus had many retrieves. I once witnessed a friend drop a woodcock and the dog retrieved it to my dad who was over a quarter of a mile away. In closing, the prospective reader should not rule out other types of upland dog training just because of the title. Dad's dogs probably were on point over more pheasants and quail than they were over grouse and/or woodcock. I hope you enjoy his book.
